我已经很老了, 老到记不得很多事情, 但是对于这半年来的那场血雨腥风的斗争, 我却始终难以忘怀.
那是2008年的上半年, 一个多事之秋, 全中国人民, 被卷进了一场深刻的, 触及灵魂的变革. 许多人暴露出本来面目, 许多人变得面目全非, 革命的前夜是寒冷的......

但是我真心希望

让世界看到了一个前所未有的中国

中国的两种形象

奥运火炬传递让西方媒体激动，它给了西方媒体痛骂中国西藏政策和人权政策的机会。在伦敦和巴黎，圣火遇到的最强悍的抵制被放在了黄金时段的新闻中。保护圣火的警察、摩托卫队、中国护跑手越多，和他们发起对抗以争得镜头的抗议者就越多。中国在西方的形象很糟糕。

　　在香港却是另一番景象。人们夹道欢迎圣火。为明星火炬手叫好的普通民众超过了示威者。香港将承办奥运会的马术比赛，香港人已经意识到，他们的未来和北京连在一起，和一届成功的奥运会连在一起。

　　西方人总把西藏想成浪漫的香格里拉，坐落在高高的喜马拉雅山脉，那里的居民就是一个总在冥想的达赖喇嘛和一群在宁静寺院的僧侣。但对于中国，西 藏曾是一个保留了封建农奴制的落后地方--其90%人口都目不识丁。从收回西藏以来，中国废除了种姓制度和农奴制度，中国在西藏建立了医院、学校、公路、 铁路和机场，引入了长途电话和手机，发展了旅游业并提高了人民生活水平。中国相信，让西藏融入21世纪的世界，这样做是必要的。

　　中国正在奔向他们的伟大时刻：2008年8月8日晚8时的开幕时刻。其他国家对于奥运的抵制激怒了中国人，他们在网络上宣泄着排外情绪。无需煽动，大量在海外留学的中国学生集结起来反对西方的抵制。

　　看到中国与西方之间的理解鸿沟让人伤心。Howard French 4月24日在《国际先驱论坛报》的专栏中写道"中国对全体一致的需求要付出很大代价"。在其中，French援引了一名学生对他外交的提问："中国人和中 国媒体如何才能让外部世界了解一个真正的中国？"他还引用了一名中国网友的留言："你们想要我们怎么样？当我们被称为'东亚病夫'时，我们被认为是危险 的。当我们被宣传成下一个世界强国时，我们又被说成了威胁。"

　　有国家想要抵制北京奥运会么？对于北京奥运的抵制不会像抵制1980年莫斯科奥运会那样不用付出代价。中国庞大的消费市场使其在全球经济中占据重要地位。中国人有信心，在灾难、抗议和奥运会都结束后，他们会站得更高，并且一年比一年强盛。

　　形象改变　　

　　5月12日，一场破坏性的地震袭击四川。政府反应迅速。触目惊心的断壁残垣和苦难，眼含热泪抱着孩童并用他温和方式保证人民将得到重建帮助的温家宝总理，这些改变了世界对中国的态度。

　　国家主席胡锦涛和其他中国高层领导人到救灾前线并寻求支持。和缅甸的被动形成了鲜明对比。中国动员了它的一切资源，向全世界寻求帐篷，接受了来 自日本、俄罗斯、美国和其他国家和地区的援助、从其人民那里募集捐助。5月19日，这片辽阔国土上的上亿中国人、海外使馆在三天国家哀悼日的第一天举行了 3分钟默哀。民族团结、纪律、组织和素质感人至深。世界看到了一个此前从未看到的中国。

　　但是，这个举世同情的时刻将过去，对中国未来地位的担心还将继续。西方不能确定，这个巨大的国家对世界是好还是坏。这种紧张只有在双方接近彼此的世界观，并接受从未有过相同的文化价值后，才能得到解决。

　　中国人必须向自己证明，他们有能力建立一个现代的国家。为了这个目标，中国需要庞大的、受过良好教育的中产阶级，一旦这个目标实现，许多人将在 西方受教育，并将熟悉美国和欧洲。然后，就像日本、韩国、台湾地区、香港和新加坡受过教育的人群一样，他们将停止把自己看做西方帝国主义的受害者。

The Perfect Hat For Your Ugly Mug

The Brown Hat

Brown hats look best with brown or green suits or coats. If wearing a dark blue or dark gray suit, a dark brown hat may also look acceptable.

The Gray Hat

Gray hats are quite versatile and can be paired with black, blue, and dark gray suits and coats.

The Blue Hat

Wear a blue hat with a blue or gray suit or coat. If pairing a blue suit with a blue hat, the colors must match fairly closely. Alternatively, you can pair a dark blue suit with a light blue hat or vice versa. You can also get away with wearing a blue hat with a light brown or tan suit.

The Green Hat

Green hats are surprisingly versatile. They look best with tan or light brown suits. But they also accent black, green, and gray suits very nicely.
